Our Partners

Through partnerships with local water authorities, engineering firms, and municipalities, our programs are brought to schools all over the West Coast.

Schools: A Critical Part of Stormwater Management

Schools are among the largest public landholders and are dominated by impervious surfaces that drive stormwater runoff and pollution. Yet, despite their scale and potential impact, schools are largely exempt from stormwater regulations, leaving a major missed opportunity for water quality improvement.

Our Stormwater Quality Leadership Program changes that.

We help agencies integrate schools into regional stormwater strategies, providing compliance data, community engagement, and real pollution-reduction outcomes (all within existing funding framework). Check out our article in Stormwater Solutions about the impact and effectiveness of education.

Case Study: Los Angeles

Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is the largest landowner in the greater Los Angeles area. A recent report from the Pacific Institute highlights the untapped potential of LA County public school campuses:

Each year, LA County school campuses generate an estimated 3.15 billion gallons of stormwater runoff, nearly 65% of which could be captured and reused. Capturing this runoff could also prevent approximately 1,220 tons of pollutants from entering local waterways and the ocean annually.
